Barbadian faces Cannabis charges; Unnatural death at Brighton probed

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged Barbadian national Eadiun Nicholas Nariah Cobham, 26 years, Jericho, St George, primary school teacher, for the offences of:

Possession
Possession with intent to supply
Trafficking; and
Importation of 5 lbs of compressed Cannabis.

Cobham arrived by air from Canada on 11 August, 2013 and was interviewed by Police on the outside of the Arrivals Hall after clearing Customs. He taken back to Customs and an examination was conducted of his suitcase and eleven compressed packages of cannabis were found concealed in a false bottom.

Cobham appeared at the District B Magistrate Court today Tuesday 13 August 2013, and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was granted bail in the sum of $7500.00 to reappear at the District B Court on 10 October 2013.

UNNATURAL DEATH

Police are investigating the death of Ainsley Arthur, 69 years of 3rd Avenue, Mannings Land, Bank Hall, St. Michael, which occurred suddenly at Brighton Beach, St. Michael.

(FILE IMAGE) It was reported that he attended Brighton Beach and just after 11:15 was sea bathing with a number of persons who missed him and realized that he was floating and unresponsive. He was taken ashore and CPR was perform, however this was unsuccessful.

A post mortem will have to be performed to await the cause of death. Investigations are continuing.
