ROYAL FIDELITY PRESENTS THE 3RD ANNUAL NATIONAL DISTINGUISHED TEACHERS’ AWARDS

Royal Fidelity , in association with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, launched the 3rd annual Royal Fidelity National Distinguished Teachers’ Awards 2013. This is a community initiative developed to honour outstanding members of the teaching profession, whose talent, dedication and creativity has had a lasting impact on our children and society. On the hunt for 10 new amazing teachers to add to the National Distinguished Teachers’ Hall of Fame, Royal Fidelity will award each exceptional teacher $2000, along with the deserving title.

As in previous years, awardees will be chosen from both private and public schools across Barbados based on nominations submitted. These will include teachers from Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions. After being shortlisted, the top teachers will be interviewed by our Blue Ribbon Judging Panel, which is headed by Mr. Matthew Farley.

Assistant Vice President of Royal Fidelity, Jillian Nunes shared, “Barbados is proud of its enviably high level of education and not enough credit is attributed to our outstanding teaching professionals.”

Nunes added, “These awards are Royal Fidelity’s opportunity to show our country’s teachers a small portion of the gratitude and recognition they deserve.”

This year, Royal Fidelity is pleased to be working in association with its partners, RBC Royal Bank, Neal & Massy along with LIME. Through these partnerships, not only will nominators win up to $5000 in cash prizes, but the school with the most nominations will win a grand prize of complimentary internet for a year.

Members of the community, school administrators, parents and students may nominate teachers for the awards. To be eligible, the teacher must be employed as a full-time classroom teacher, with no less than four years teaching experience as of January 1, 2013.

Nominations will remain open until June 30th, 2013 and nomination forms are available online for both completion and submission.
