Montserrat seeks EOI’s for Submarine Fibre Optic Cable Project

The Government of Montserrat is soliciting Expressions of Interest (EOI’s) for the proposed Montserrat Submarine Fibre Optic Cable Project.

According to Denzil West, Director of the Department for Information Technology and eGovernment Services (DITES), the government is considering five different Project Business Models for the development and implementation of the project, and “intends to identify and facilitate the model that will be most effective in bringing the greatest benefits to Montserratians.”

(FILE IMAGE) A consultation on the feasibility of reinstalling the cable which was lost after volcanic eruptions began in 1995 has already been conducted. The government believes that having the submarine fibre optic cable will improve the island's capacity to attract technology-driven companies and to also deliver more services efficiently and cost-effectively.

Interested companies with the requisite capacity to undertake work in the field of Subsea fibre optic installation and/or operation may download the detailed EOI document on the Government of Montserrat’s website at www.gov.ms under the Review and Respond section.

All submissions must be received by Friday 14th June at 12:00 noon Montserrat time (UTC-4:00) in order to be considered.
