DIGICEL TAKES CARE OF MOTHERS OF ALL AGES

We should always cherish our mothers! This is the message which Digicel spread when the company paid a visit to mothers in the Maternity Ward of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), as well as those in the female wards of the Geriatric Hospital on Mothers’ Day yesterday.

Digicel donated over 150 personal care packages to patients of the two healthcare institutions, in an effort to assist new mothers with the initial stages of their motherhood, while providing much needed items to the elderly women residing at the Geriatric Hospital in Beckles Road, St. Michael.

Commercial Director of Digicel (Barbados) Limited, Alex Tasker, said the recognition of mothers is something which Digicel is committed to: “At Digicel we are very cognizant of the role which mothers play. Quite frankly, without mothers and without their sacrifice, none of us would be here today and none of us would be as successful as we are. Our staff recognizes this and therefore wanted to show their appreciation, not only for their own mothers or the ones within our organization, but also to those in our community.”

Tasker also went on to point out that these institutions were chosen due to the needs of the patients: “The reality is that patients of these two institutions are generally the ones who require the most assistance and Digicel believes that it is part of its social responsibility to assist these persons where ever possible. As a result of these visits we have identified other ways in which we can assist the hospitals and its patients and working together with our staff and that of the institutions, we will look to embark upon a plan to achieve these goals.
