DIGICEL SHOWCASES UNBEATABLE SPEED AT KING OF THE HILL
The dominance of Digicel in the telecommunications industry was transferred to the streets over the weekend when Digicel sponsored rally drivers, Neil Armstrong and brothers, Roger and Barry Mayers came out on the top in the Scotiabank King Of the Hill event.
In his first full year in the new Suzuki SX4, Armstrong showed why he is the car to watch this year, dominating the event despite still being on a learning curve with the machine, while Roger Mayers was his usual exciting self, finishing on top the two-wheel class, with brother Barry not too far behind in the shared car.
Commercial Director of Digicel (Barbados) Limited, Alex Tasker, congratulated the drivers, indicating the supreme confidence which Digicel had in them: “We expected nothing but great things from the guys and they certainly didn’t disappoint. Their success is a testament to the hard work they have put in over the years and particularly in the last few months. I’m definitely happy for Neil and the Suzuki SX4 crew, considering that this car is still relatively new to them, while the Mayers brothers have been a model of consistency, proving to be a major challenge to the bigger machines out there. Their rise to dominance reminds me of Digicel’s journey to its current position of being Barbados’ #1 mobile telecommunications provider. Together, Digicel and these drivers will continue to enhance our dominance in our respective areas.”
Tasker also went on to wish the drivers the best of luck in this upcoming weekend’s Rally Barbados event: “With the success at King of the Hill we know that all of the other competitors will now be gunning for them, a position Digicel has become accustomed to. However, we are confident they will be able to fend off all challengers and show why they are indeed Bigger and Better.”
