Controversial Educator attacked – Principal of Parkinson loses glasses after alleged Parent assaults Jeff Broomes

It all started as what I thought was another Blackberry rumour, was Jeff Broomes stabbed? So I did what should be done – called the Police, who then corrected me and indicated the former Head Teacher of Alexandra Secondary was assaulted.

Awaited official word before I prepared a story on the matter… So I just got off the phone and here’s what they have gleaned so far? At 9:30 this morning on the grounds of Parkinson Memorial, male – who claimed to be the father of a 15 year old female student – assaulted the recently transferred Principal.

Broomes clearly before the crisis which rendered him glasses-less. The alleged perpetrator is not in Custody at this time as Police continue to probe the situation.

Parkinson Memorial principal Jeff Broomes, clearly before the crisis which rendered him glasses-less. The alleged perpetrator is not in Custody at this time as Police continue to probe the situation.

It seems another male accompanied the purported parent but did not directly abet nor assist the situation. However, when the man who claims to be the girl’s father followed Broomes into his office and it is there when Jeff Broomes’ spectacles were rendered useless.

According to the Police, Broomes had previously approached the female teenager and questioned her regarding her attendance record, it was subsequent to this interrogation when Broomes’ spectacles met an untimely demise.

Barbadians will recall that Broomes was at the centre of a very expensive ($600,000.00 BBD), heated and bitter inquiry into his Administrative practices while heading the Alexandra Secondary school on the island’s western coastline – many Bajans feel that Broomes should be given retirement with full pay rather than see controversy follow the Educator, who is otherwise popular for his passion in coaching youth cricket and coaching children for the soon-to-be obsolete 11-Plus (Common Entrance test).
