CIBC FirstCaribbean staff in Barbados celebrated on Employee Appreciation Day

Some 900 CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank staff in Barbados were the toast of the town recently when they were celebrated by their managers on Employee Appreciation Day, joining thousands of their colleagues from the 17 countries in the Caribbean in which the bank operates, and all other CIBC offices around the globe.

The Canada-headquartered CIBC celebrated May 16, 2013 worldwide as Employee Appreciation Day and as a member of the CIBC Group, CIBC FirstCaribbean also joined in the celebrations.

Offices and branches across Barbados chose to observe the day and show appreciation to their employees for their contribution over the past year in a variety ways. Celebratory breakfasts and lunches were held across branches and units. Some branches opted for evening celebrations with karaoke. At the bank’s Rendezvous office employees were treated to a sumptuous breakfast served by senior executives who looked very much the part wearing white mini chef hats.

In addition each staff member received a signed card and token of appreciation from their manager as well as messages from department heads and the bank’s Senior Executive Team.

Mark St. Hill, Managing Director and Barbados Country Head, was one of four senior executives serving breakfast at Rendezvous. In recognizing the importance of Employee Appreciation Day, he heralded the bank’s staff as its greatest asset. “We are fortunate to have dedicated employees and so we wanted to show our appreciation in a demonstrable and memorable way. The bank would not be where it is today without the commitment exhibited by our team, sometimes under challenging circumstances, and we say thank you.”
