WENDY FITZWILLIAM IN BARBADOS FOR YOUTH EVENT (Young entrepreneurial Expo at the Hilton)

Trinidad’s Wendy Fitzwilliam – FORMER Ms. Universe, now host and executive producer of Caribbean’s Next Top Model, will be among the specially invited guests at the Caribbean Innovation Challenge (CIC) Expo and Finals which is now on at the Barbados Hilton.

During the event, 20 young entrepreneurial teams, selected from among 493 participants, will have the unique opportunity to showcase and present their projects to international and regional business experts during the final stage of judging of the CIC challenge.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Sub-regional Office for Barbados and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), are sponsors of the event.

The public is invited to the event to watch five Barbadian teams are among the finalists vie for top spot.

Booths will be set up by the finalists that will display their projects, prototypes, ideas and promotional materials. Parallel to the Expo, there will be an area set up to promote leadership links for young entrepreneurs that will be facilitated by CIC resource persons and partner organisations.

The opening ceremony featured addresses by local government and other stakeholders. The event closes on Friday with an awards ceremony where winners will be awarded in the competing categories.

The CIC is an international entrepreneur competition and business start-up accelerator for young people in the CARICOM Member States. Awarding projects in three categories (Social, Economic and Environmental), the CIC promotes innovation, social enterprise and the development of entrepreneurial initiatives in diverse and new sustainability sectors.
