Join BFC During National Infertility Awareness Week: April 21 – April 28 2013

Infertility is an emotional and painful matter that most women prefer to keep private but National Infertility Awareness Week is about bringing the subject to the forefront of everyone’s minds so that friends and family can support those who sometimes suffer silently. It is also about changing the publics’ perception about infertility.

National Infertility Awareness Week is celebrated from April 21st to April 28th yearly. The seven day awareness drive was first instituted by RESOLVE, a US based national fertility association, to bring the issue to the forefront by encouraging persons to discuss their fertility problems with close friends and family and aid in dispelling any stigma while providing support and encouragement to those affected.

Like RESOLVE, we have been doing our part to ensure that women in the Caribbean and across the globe are encouraged and educated via our digital tools and online communities, including Facebook, Twitter and You Tube. This year we want to create a movement that breaks the silence usually associated with infertility and we’re asking you to join us by sending encouraging and inspirational words to the millions of women and men worldwide, who are battling infertility. You can join our movement simply by liking our Facebook page and/or taking the time to share, like, tweet and upload your words of support.

Education and public awareness is key to what we do day-in and day-out. Along with the emotional, success stories we also share the hard data. Infertility does not only affect females in their thirties and forties, or career women only. It affects one in every six couples. Men too suffer with the disease.

To kick start National Infertility Awareness Week, BFC will be hosting a live educational seminar on the web, which you can participate in from the comfort of your home. Dr. Juliet Skinner, our Medical Director, will explain the various conditions that can cause infertility and discuss the treatment options that are available depending on your diagnosis. The seminar starts at 12 noon Barbados time, which is 5:00 pm in the UK on Sunday April 21 2013 and it is free of charge to attend.

This webinar is an opportunity to ask Dr. Skinner any questions you may have and because we’re creating a movement, we encourage you not to attend the webinar alone. Tell your partner, your mother or your best friend and have them join in, this will drive home how much it takes a village to successfully navigate your fertility journey.

If you are unable to attend but have questions, please feel free to email them to contact@barbadosivf.com. We look forward to seeing you online on Sunday!
