My first topic is the Nation newspaper. You are the leading newspaper on this lil rock we call home. You have the most sales and subsequently make the most revenue from advertising. Therefore one would think that you do not have to become the bajan equivalent of the Inquirer to sell papers. Every damn time I take up a Nation (which is getting lighter and lighter daily) it’s filled with needless graphic photos of some accident or mindless gossip.

Next, Sir Roy Trotman was in said gossip rag the other day lamenting on the lack of young people joining the unions. Seriously, Sir Roy??? Truly??? Why should they? Trade Unions in Barbados now serve as much purpose as a white crayon. The times have changed and the unions have sadly not changed with them. What they do now is attempt to support the sh*te some workers do on a daily basis. Then Sir Roy and his cohorts jump in to prove that they “still have it” whilst justifying their large salaries and Sir Roy’s BMW. When last has Sir Roy really stood up to someone and won? Remember ? Royal Shop? (s)Lime? All enormous wastes of time and energy. Yet no one is saying anything about this sh*te. Both employers and employees need to improve their work ethic so that we can move forward as a nation in these rough economic times and the Trade Unions are in no way aiding in that regard.

Now you’re running around like the little boy that just got out and took up his bat and ball and went home, and committing political suicide in the process. Does this man have no advisors or friends that could have shut him up? It is for reasons like this that the political scene in this country is in the sad condition which it is today.
