Bridgetown Merchant sponsors USA song & dance as Medical fund-raiser

Diamonds International Barbados and its strategic partners just held a press conference at the beautiful St. Peter’s Bay to announce the return of Broadway to Barbados.

A number of corporate lead sponsors have come together to bring back the stage performance “Broadway to Barbados”. Between 2001 and 2007, this show performed to sold out audiences at the Frank Collymore Hall which will be the venue for this entertaining show during the last two weeks of March, 2013.

(PERSONAL FILE IMAGE) This initiative has been undertaken in support of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and more specifically, to provide up-to-date sophisticated diagnostic equipment for the anticipated new Medical Intensive Care Unit which is expected to be operational at the beginning of 2013. Surplus proceeds from the Broadway Show will go towards the purchase of additional new equipment as well as a retention of a cash reserve to facilitate any future repairs necessary to the newly acquired equipment.

Surplus proceeds from the Broadway Show will go towards the purchase of additional new equipment as well as a retention of a cash reserve to facilitate any future repairs necessary to the newly acquired equipment.

It should be noted, that a Trust fund will be established to hold the monies raised and that a small committee of individuals from the business community will work together with representatives from QEH in order to identify the most cost effective piece of equipment available and taking into account the availability of service maintenance in Barbados or within the region. Also, the cash reserves for possible future maintenance requirements will be administered by this same committee.

Mr. Jacob Hassid, Diamonds International's Managing Director, gave special thanks to his friends and fellow sponsors of the initiative and explains that Eldorado Gold Barbados (an oversees gold mining company based in Vancouver) has already purchased the critical piece of equipment for the QEH.

Special thanks to all strategic partners: St. Peter’s Bay, Archer’s Hall Design Centre, Eldorado Gold, Scotiabank, GKSpringhead, Digicel, United Insurance and LOVE 104.1 FM.

If the Barbados Business Community joins in fully supporting this initiative through their support of the Broadway Show, it is intended to continue the annual hosting of the Broadway Show which features professional Broadway performers from the past, to allow for a continuing effort to support critical equipment needs of the Hospital in meeting the critical, urgent needs of all Barbadians.
