Deputy Director, Currency, Octavia Gibson (Extreme Left), revealed that to date the initiative by the Bank, the Alzheimer’s Association and the three Rotary Clubs on the island has brought in 10.9 million cents.
Gibson also disclosed that the collection effort will continue into 2013;- “We at the Bank are deeply touched by the requests by Barbadians to allow the collection effort to continue, and I am therefore delighted to advise that the Bank welcomes your contribution of cents throughout this entire year…”
“I would also wish to thank Barbadians for their generosity and selflessness and I encourage you to continue to contribute towards a very worthwhile cause,” Gibson stated.
The funds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association to assist with the construction of a day care facility for sufferers of Alzheimer’s.
Barbadians can continue to deposit their one cents in the yellow bins located in supermarkets, gas stations, credit unions, media houses, telecommunications companies, insurance companies, small shops, stores, law firms, churches, and government offices.
A collection bin is located in the Bank’s foyer as well.
