280th Anniversary – Kolij’s list of Events

Fellow Harrisonians,

On the occasion of our 280th anniversary, the Council extends a warm invitation to you, your family and friends to participate in the activities planned. I implore you to encourage your classmates to attend and to join the OHS – we cannot succeed without your support.

Give back
We also encourage you to give back to the School in any way that you can – no contribution is too small. The OHS facilitates donations to the Armstrong Fund and arranges Speech Day prizes and contributions (memorial and otherwise) by Harrisonians and their families. We also assist students in need and Harrisonians who may have fallen on hard times.

If you wish to contribute in any way, please contact our Treasurer, Lt. Col. Owen Springer at 232-1912 or by email: ohsbarbados@gmail.com, with the subject line “Donation”.

Do note that the funds raised this anniversary year will be applied to shoring up the sporting and music departments, which are in need of equipment and instruments, as well as faculty support. (CLICK FOR BIGGER)

Even in the midst of a terrible recession, we must ensure that the quality of education at our island’s top institution is maintained.

Launch Event
Our launch event is a Ceremony of Tribute to former Headmaster Mr. Albert “Tank” Williams, for his significant and enduring contribution to the lives of generations of Harrisonians. Space is limited, so we ask that you send your RSVP to us at ohsbarbados@gmail.com, with the subject line “Tribute”. The ceremony will be held from 5 pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

Please also send us your written tributes which will be compiled and presented to Mr. Williams at the ceremony.

Other Events
The Founder’s Day Service will be held on Thursday, April 4, followed by the Past vs Present Games and After-Work Social in the afternoon from 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm respectively.

On Saturday, April 6, put on your house colours and come out to the House Party V! Dance the night away, or simply hang out with congenial company, enjoying specialty drinks!

Then on Sunday, April 7, relax in the peaceful environment of Harrison College while enjoying a luncheon catered by Weisers on the Bay. It’s the Annual Barbeque and Garden Party – bring your whole family and your friends!

The BBQ will be followed by a separate event at 4 pm: a historical walk through Harrison College led by Professor Karl Watson. Tickets for the walk are free but limited, so order yours early!

In May, we are hosting our inaugural Charity Golf Tournament! Sign up now in your teams of 4 to play a Texas Scramble at the Barbados Golf Club on May 17, 2013. There are attractive prizes to be won!

We will send further correspondence in a few months to bring you details of our Anniversary Lecture (May 22), Awards Dinner (October 12), and Concert (November 23).

We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you this year!
