WOMAN CHARGED FOR COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY

On Sunday March 10, 2013, Ahricia Patricia Gunning, 29 years of St. Matthias Housing Area, Christ Church was arrested and charged for the offence of Possession of five (5) counterfeit One Hundred ($100) United Stated currency notes.

(IMAGE VIA: chinatraderonline.com) On Saturday 09, March 2013 about 7:40 pm, members of the Drug Squad as a result of information, encountered and interviewed Gunning in the Departure Lounge of the Airport, and they subsequently found the counterfeit notes in her possession.

Gunning appeared at the District B Magistrate Court on Monday March 11, 2013.

MAN CHARGED FOR NARCOTICS

As a result of ongoing investigations into the seizure of 18.5 kgs of cannabis from a house in Constant St. George on Wednesday March 6, 2013, members of the Drug Squad arrested and charged Stephen Aldolphus Wallace, 37 years of Glebe land, St. George for the following offences:

1. Possession of cannabis (18.5 kgs)
2. Trafficking of cannabis
3. Possession with intent to supply

On Wednesday 06, March 2013, members of the Drug Squad executed a warrant at the residence, where the illegal drug was discovered. It was alleged that Wallace was at the residence at the time and fled. On March 10, 2013, he was seen at Glebe Land, St. George and arrested.

Wallace appeared at the District B Magistrate Court on Monday 11 March 2013.

SEIZURE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS AT DRUG LANDING – FITTS VILLAGE, ST. JAMES

About 8.00 pm on 10 March, 2013, members of the Drug Squad assisted by the Police Marine Unit and the Barbados Coast Guard conducted an operation on the beach at Fitts Village, St. James where 2044 lbs of cannabis were seized and 3 persons arrested and they are currently assisting with this investigation. Also seized were one firearm which was with the shipment of drugs, two (2) vehicles and a boat.

(FILE IMAGE via CBS) On the arrival of the operation team, a large group of armed men were encountered on the beach and they opened fire at the Police with what seemed to be heavy caliber weapons. Police returned fire and the men fled. One man was held by members of the Coast Guard in the sea and two other men were held by police nearby.

The illegal drug was discovered in 50 polythene bags and 3 taped packages. Total weight 2044 lbs (1 US ton).

FATAL ACCIDENT

A two vehicle collision resulting in the second fatality for the year occurred about 4.25 pm on Saturday March 9, 2013, on Orange Hill Main Road, Orange Hill, St. James.

The deceased is Dario Linton 25 years of Parks Road, Bush Hall, St. Michael. He was at the time driving a motorcycle (lone rider) when he became involved in an accident with a motor van driven by St. Philip resident Sylvan Greenidge.

Dario Linton died at the scene.

Investigations are continuing.
