Barbados Police probe suspected West Coast murder & drug seizures made

SUSPECTED MURDER

The R.B.P.F. is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Kari Nolan Cumberbatch 33 years, of Fairview, St. George, which occurred after 10:00 am today Wednesday 16 January, 2013 in the car park of Cin Cin By the Sea Restaurant, Prospect, St. James. A suspect is now currently in custody assisting with in this investigation.

Initial information revealed that Cumberbatch was involved in an altercation when he received a gunshot injury. He died at the scene.

DRUG SEIZURES

1. On Tuesday 15th January 2013, about 9 pm, members of the Drug Squad responded to reports of suspicious persons going into Pile Bay, St. Michael. A search was made without success. Further searches with the assistance of the Barbados Coast Guard among moored boats offshore, discover the following:

• 10 polythene bags and 11 taped packages of cannabis weighing 1073 lbs; and
• 1 black plastic bag containing a firearm and 5 rounds of ammunition.

No arrests have been made, investigations are continuing.

2. On Wednesday 16th January 2013, about 6.30 am, members of the Drug Squad responded to reports of suspicious activity on the beaches at Maxwell, Christ Church, and searches in bushes close by netted 3 polythene bags and 10 taped packages weighing 226 lbs.
