Barbados-based Polo ace Kidd and UK Musician ‘conned’

The Daily Mail has uncovered some sad news when it comes to Bajan sports personalities;-

To his many friends on the polo circuit, businessman Simon Welsh appeared to be the consummate owner-cum-patron.

His team Cancha 2, with the leading professional Jack Kidd in the saddle, won a string of tournaments in southern Spain this year and Kidd, together with rocker and polo aficionado Mike Rutherford, were close pals.

But no longer. Welsh, 40, the heir to a multi-millionaire lavatory manufacturer, stands accused of effectively flushing Kidd’s polo business down the drain with a trail of unpaid debts worth hundreds of thousand of pounds that also left Genesis star Rutherford out of pocket…

It appears there’s a global APB on the charlatan, according to the Daily Mail;-

Conned‘: Businessman Simon Welsh stands accused of effectively flushing professional polo player Jack Kidd‘s (seen here in happier times in Barbados, March 2012) polo business down the drain with a trail of unpaid debts worth hundreds of thousand of pounds that also left Genesis star Mike Rutherford out of pocket!

Polo clubs around the world are being warned about Welsh who, it seems, has developed a habit of persuading wealthy acquaintances to lend him money, which, it is claimed, is never repaid

Then there is the money owed to Jack, brother of supermodel Jodie. Rutherford (told the Mail): ‘I got off lightly, but I feel very sorry for Jack, who has had his polo ponies impounded as a result.’

{It seems} Jack took ten of his polo ponies to Spain and duly won last season’s championship for Welsh — only to discover neither he nor the grooms nor the livery stables had been paid.

‘Without my horses, I can’t work. My career is canned,’ says Kidd, who needs the £32,000 he says he is owed to get his ponies back.

Welsh also borrowed £150,000 from publisher Julian Worth who has won a blizzard of judgments in the Swiss courts against him….
