The road surfacing of Montserrat’s main road stretching from Salem to the North is progressing and officials are confident that the main sections presently being worked on will be complete before the start of festival this December.

Honourable Premier of Montserrat Reuben T. Meade on site of the ongoing road works in Brades.

The Honourable Premier Reuben T. Meade took reporters on a visit of several ongoing projects on Thursday, including the resurfacing of the Brades main road from the BBC Complex to the corner of Brades Primary School.

He commended his colleague Hon. Minister of Communications and Works Charles Kirnon and the team at the Public Works Department who have made great strides to push the road project, which had been earlier hampered by several issues including lack of aggregate.

Premier Meade said the commitment of the labourers to work even on weekends meant that the present stretch of road would be done in another week or so. He added that road works are also in progress in Salem and should also be done in time for the start of Montserrat’s cultural festival, which is celebrating 50 years this December.

The top official also took reporters to the Davy Hill Housing Development project and the new geothermal site in Cork Hill.
