Investigations by members of the Drug Squad at the Grantley Adams International Airport resulted in the arrests of a Jamaican woman, who arrived about 6:43 am on Caribbean Airlines Flight BW 412 from Port of Spain, Trinidad. She was in possession of six and three quarter pounds of cannabis, which was found in a false bottom of her travel luggage.

Shermane Antonette Levy Gordan 27 years of #11 Musgrave Avenue, Kingston, Jamaica was charged with the following offences:-

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking, and
4. Importation of cannabis.

She was brought before the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court on 24th November, 2012.

BURNING OF DRUG

The Royal Barbados Police Force destroyed 1122.1 kg (2468.62 lbs) of cannabis, seven thousand and thirty-five (7035) cannabis plants and 6.2 kg (13.64 lbs) of cocaine. The burning of these drugs was witnessed by Senior Police Officials and personnel from the Barbados Forensic Laboratory.
