Royal Barbados Police Force in Overtime Mode – Ganja, Fire and Shooting


On Sunday October 7, 2012, members of the Drug Squad assisted by elements of the RSS and the Barbados Coast Guard conducted an operation approximately 4 nautical miles off Neehams Points, Christ Church where a vessel was intercepted.

{RBPF FILE IMAGE ONLY} As a result 16 polythene bags of cannabis weighing 817 lbs along with the boat were seized.

Two (2) Barbadians nationals and one (1) Vincentian national (males) are currently assisting with investigations.


Two (2) persons are currently in custody assisting members of the Drug Squad in connection with the discovery of 3 lbs of cannabis which came through a Courier Service on September 11, 2012.


A fire of unknown origin occurred about 5:40 am on Monday 8 October 2012, completely destroying a wooden house located at Bonnetts, Britton Hill, St. Michael. The house was occupied by Kerryann Coleman 22 years. The fire also damaged a four bedroom wood and wall house owned by Joyann Best.


On Sunday 7th October, 2012, about 11.30 pm, three persons were seated in a motor vehicle which was parked in the Dacosta Mannings Fontabelle carpark when two men approached from two sides of the vehicle and fired several gunshots at the same vehicle. The driver in an attempt to evade the attackers drove away and crashed into a lamp post on the same compound, resulting in extensive damage to the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was also damaged by the gunfire.

Two of the occupants were injured by the gunfire, they are:

1. Germaine Harte 29 years of St. Matthias, Christ Church. He received an injury to his right side; and

2. Rico Reid 20 years of Bonnetts, Brittons Hill, St. Michael, who received an injury to his upper arm.

Both men were taken to the QEH by ambulance, where they were treated and discharged.
