Children & Adults freak out as Ernie & Bert Visit KFC Warrens
The sounds of excited screams filled the air Sunday evening as several hundred eager children (and many secretly excited grown-up’s) packed out the parking lot at KFC’s Warrens Restaurant to “Meet and Greet” with Ernie and Bert of Sesame Street.
The famous and much loved duo of characters pulled up in a glistening white limousine to a rapturous reception from children and parents alike, heightening an atmosphere that had already been charged with anticipation as the children earlier enjoyed a games and prizewinning session hosted by KFC’s mascot, Chicky.
It was non-stop action for the next few hours after the larger than life Sesame Street characters arrived and began to greet their adoring fans before settling down to answer questions and take photos with 50 early registrants from KFC’s Chicky Club and several other lucky children.
KFC’s Marketing Coordinator Shekelia Barrow said they were very happy with the response to the event from the children and their parents, and was especially pleased to see Chicky Club members enjoy the benefits of their club membership:
“The children had a wonderful time at KFC with Ernie and Bert, who really brought that Sesame Street feeling alive for the children. I am sure this is an occasion they will remember for many years to come and we are extremely pleased to have been a part of bringing it to them.”
The car park at KFC was also transformed into a spectacle of colour as children held tightly to balloons and surged for a closer look as Ernie and Bert got going with sing-a-longs, games, trivia, and photo opportunities.
Parents and children could be seen clutching their prizes and taking advantage of special offers including a free Blue Bunny Bomb Pop with every Chicky Pack purchase. Several lucky children also won free tickets to the “Elmo makes Music” high-energy musical extravaganza coming up at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium Sunday October 28th.
