BARBADIAN NURSERY SCHOOL GETS TO COOL DOWN THANKS TO FIRST CARIBBEAN STAFF
The children of the Eden Lodge Day Nursery will now be a little cooler, thanks to a donation of fans from the Cards Operations Department of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank.
Adrian Wiggins, Process Improvement and Relationship Manager, explained that the Bank was approached by one of the teachers who explained that the lack of windows on the building had created a very hot and humid environment that made it very uncomfortable for the children.
The department therefore decided – as part of their Adopt-A-Cause project – to donate 4 fans, 2 standing and 2 wall units, to the children of the school; it was a gift to the children of that community from the Jaycees of Barbados.
Since the Adopt-a-Cause concept also includes some aspect of volunteerism, Jacqueline Bend, Head of Investigations and reconciliations, revealed their plans to return and assist the school with other projects which include the construction of playground facilities, including building seesaws, refurbishing the playground’s slides to be reconstructed and some painting to be done in the school.
The group, she said, looked forward to working with the teachers and the children of the school on a long term basis and on various projects.
Principal, Mrs. Rosecleare Blades, expressed thanks to the staff of the Cards Department and stated that they are also working on getting windows installed in the building for the children, which it was anticipated would take some time. She was therefore very appreciative to the team from CIBC FirstCaribbean for their assistance at this time.
