(UPDATED) Two Bajans held for Ganja at GAIA; RBPF nip flying high in bud

{FILE IMAGE} Investigations by members of the Drug Squad at the Airport resulted in the arrests of two Barbadian nationals for drug offences. They were both charged separately for the offences of: (CONT’D BELOW)

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking, and
4. Importation of cannabis.

1. Barbadian Adrianne Shakeira Pompey, a 19 year old Hairdresser of McClean Road, Silver Sands, Christ Church arrived by air about 1:45 pm on Sunday 2 September 2012, and was stopped and interviewed by the Police and was referred to Customs. A search revealed 3 packages of cannabis in sealed transparent bags concealed in a false compartment in one of her bags. Weight 3.5 lbs.

2. Barbadian Shawn Sheldon Proverbs arrived by air about 5:49 pm on Sunday 2 September 2012, and was stopped and interviewed by the Police and was referred to Customs. A search revealed 2 packages of cannabis in sealed transparent bags concealed in a black folder which was in a blue suit bag he carried. Weight 2 lbs.

Court Results

Adrianne Pompey appeared at the District A Magistrate Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. She was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 with one surety to reappear at the District B Magistrate Court on 6 September 2012.

Shawn Proverbs appeared at the District B Magistrate Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was granted bail in the sum of $7,500 with one surety to reappear at the District B Magistrate Court on 10 January 2013.
