Montserrat Introduces New Customs Processing Fee effective 1st October

Montserrat’s Customs and Revenue Service (MCRS) announced how the approval was granted by the Legislative Assembly towards a 5% Customs Processing Fee on designated items being imported.

Starting October 1 the Processing Fee will come into force. This fee will apply to importations which are exempted from payment of duty and consumption tax, explained Director General of MCRS Frank Ferguson. “However, in general terms the fee will not be charged on items imported for Government purposes and for use by organizations such as charitable institutions.”
