BARBADOS COAST GUARD PERSONNEL CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER
Three members of the Barbados Coast Guard have been charged for the offence of manslaughter in relation to the death of Percival Louie 47 years, a Vincentian national, formerly of Chateau Belair, St. Vincent.
They are:
1. Corey A Broome 31 years;
2. Romerio Alexander Gaskin 21 years ; and
3. Shem Jonathan Chapman 21 years.
The incident occurred in April 2010 off the St. James Coast within the territorial waters of Barbados, where the victim died of gunshot injuries.
The three men appeared at the District A Magistrate Court and were granted bail in the sum of $50,000 with 2 sureties each. They must also surrender their travel documents and return to the District a Magistrate Court on 31st October 2012.
Unnatural death
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in the upstairs section of a storage area at the Liquidation Centre, Bay Street, by workers, sometime around 3:45 pm on Monday 03 September 2012.
The identity of the person is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Drug Seizure
On Monday 3 September 2012, members of the Drug Squad along with members of the Customs Department, seized 106 taped packages of cannabis weighing 664.68 lbs which was found after examining a containers at the Bridgetown Port. The container was shipped from Canada through Jamaica.
