{FOLLOW-UP} Barbados Customs Officer now charged for Contraband Barrels

Margaret Yvonne King, 48 years of Harmony Hall, St. Lawrence, Christ Church, appeared at the District A Court on Friday 14 September 2012 and her bail was revoked and remanded until Monday 17 September 2012.

[FILE IMAGE} King was employed with the Customs Department. She went to the Port to clear two barrels which were inspected by Customs Officials. The inspection revealed 39 packages of cannabis concealed in boxes of foodstuff and detergent. She was held and the substance seized.

King appeared Thursday 13 September 2012 at the Oistins Magistrate Court and was not required to plea to the charges. She was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 with 1 surety and to surrender her passport. The passport declared was found to have expired. Further investigations revealed that King was still in possession of a passport that was not declared.
