In the final, the team was down to eight players with only five players without some injury. Barbados lead 19-7 only to run out of steam in the second half, losing 24-19 to Caldy Rugby Club (winners previous two years).

Kurt Johnson, the UK-based manager, said, “It was a gutsy performance starting the tournament with nine players, due to last minute problems and then getting down to eight for the last two games. I am really proud of the boys.”

The squad, announced on August 1st, includes four Barbados-based players, in addition to eight of the UK-based players that competed in the Halifax Sevens.
