HBO Latin America announced the August 18th premiere of the HBO original drama film in the Caribbean. Starring a critically acclaimed duo and directed by Academy Award® nominee Philip Kaufman, Hemingway & Gellhorn has earned 15 Emmy® nominations, including Best Actor and Best Actress for leads, as well as Best Director. The film’s story tells of the passionate love affair and tumultuous marriage between trailblazing war correspondent and literary giant , following the adventurous writers through all the great conflicts of their time – from the Spanish Civil War and beyond.
The film follows the relationship from the moment they met in Key West in 1936 (when Hemingway was married to second wife Pauline), to their shared experiences during the volatile Spanish Civil War, to more strained times when, as husband and wife, they traveled to China (together) and WWII (independently).

The cast of Hemingway & Gellhorn includes Nicole Kidman as Martha Gellhorn, who won an Oscar® for “The Hours” and Golden Globes for “The Hours,” “Moulin Rouge!” and “To Die For.” Also starring in the film is Clive Owen as Ernest Hemingway, who was an Oscar® nominee and Golden Globewinner for “Closer.” Other cast members include: David Strathairn (“Goodnight, and Good Luck,” HBO’s “Temple Grandin”), Rodrigo Santoro (“I Love You Philip Morris,” “300”), SAG Award nominee Molly Parker (“The Road,” HBO’s “Deadwood”), Golden Globe nominee Parker Posey (“Superman Returns,” “A Mighty Wind”), Santiago Cabrera (“Che: Part 1”), actor-musician Lars Ulrich (“Get Him to the Greek,” founding member of Metallica), Saverio Guerra (“Lucky You”), Emmy® nominee Peter Coyote (“Erin Brockovich,” “Law & Order: LA”), Joan Chen (“The Last Emperor”) and Emmy® and Golden Globe winner Tony Shalhoub (“Monk,” HBO’s “Too Big to Fail”).
The film is directed by Philip Kaufman, who is an Oscar® nominee andBAFTA winner for his screenplay for “The Unbearable Lightness of Being.” Executive producers are Peter Kaufman (“Quills,” “Henry and June”), Trish Hofmann (“Notorious,” “The New World”), Emmy® winner James Gandolfini (HBO’s “Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq” and “Wartorn 1861-2010”), Emmy® nominee Alexandra Ryan (HBO’s “Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq”) and Emmy® nominee Barbara Turner (“Petulia,” “Pollock”).
Nancy Sanders (“Huff”) and Mark Armstrong (“Holla If You Hear Me”) are co-executive producers.
