BARBADOS UNDER STORM WARNING – OWNERS URGED TO SECURE THEIR FISHING VESSELS
Boat owners are advised to take immediate action in securing their vessels as officials continue to track the movement of Ernesto; Tropical Depression Number Five.
Deputy Chief Fisheries Officer of the Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Joyce Leslie, also urged owners of small craft to remove their vessels from the water urgently, as storm force sea conditions are approaching Barbados. This is because the island is currently under storm watch.
She has also advised owners of larger fishing vessels in the water on the south and south west coasts to seek shelter for their vessels in the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex, Harbour Road, St. Michael.
Meanwhile, owners of vessels in the north at Half Moon Fort, St. Lucy and Six Mens, St. Peter, who are seeking shelter in the Marina at Port St. Charles, are advised to contact the marina and take adequate fendering tyres and ropes for securing their vessels.
The system is expected to pass just north of Barbados early Friday 3rd August. (JRB/BGIS)
