Young KFC Ellerslie Cricketers To Represent Barbados
Starting this week three members of KFC Ellerslie will be flying Barbados’ flag high as they represent the island in regional cricket competitions hosted by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
First to embark on this journey was fourteen year old all rounder, Jadeja Edwards, who, on Monday travelled to St. Kitts with the Barbados Under-15 team to participate in this year’s regional tournament. The cousin of West Indies players Fidel Edwards and Pedro Collins, Jadeja first represented Barbados last year as a member of the Under-13 team which also toured St. Kitts.
On Saturday July 14, 2012 just before departing for this week’s tournament, Jadeja showed he was in good form by scoring 201 runs against Parkinson Secondary in the local Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) School’s Division.
Representing the Barbados Under-19 team later this month at the West Indies Youth Tournament being held right here in Barbados will be sixteen year old Neil Persaud and seventeen year old Akeem Jordan.
Both players will be joining the remainder of the team for the tournament which commences on July 28, 2012.
Cricket Master of KFC Ellerslie, Dwayne Best, said the selection of the young men is a testament to their dedication over the last few years as well as the high level of play they have exhibited consistently as members of the various KFC Ellerslie teams in the local Under-13, Under-15, Under-19 and Intermediate competitions:
“The guys have definitely shown how committed they are to improving their level of play and this has been manifested in their dedication to training and the study of the game. Their consistent results and their selection to these national teams are proof of the hard work put in at each and every well and we look forward to further growth in each of their games as time goes on.”
