Bridgetown U.S. Embassy: 23/07/2012 Panel Discussion on Sports Scholarships to U.S. Colleges & Universities, 10 a.m.

The U.S. Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean in Wildey Business Park, St. Michael will host a panel discussion on athletic scholarships at U.S. colleges and universities on Monday, July 23 from 10-11 am.

The panel features three former student-athletes: Barbados Olympic swimmer Damian Alleyne; Michael Jules of the Barbados Defense Force Sport Program; and Seibert Straughn, a former Olympian and current coach at the Foundation School. In addition, Kim Callicoatte from the University of Massachusetts Athletic Department will be joining us via phone to provide information on the academic side of attending U.S. colleges and universities.

Ambassador Larry L. Palmer will also speak… “This event supports President Obama’s 100,000 Strong initiative, which aims to foster region-wide prosperity through greater international exchange of students, who are our future leaders and innovators.”

The speakers will address a live audience of twenty young athletes and coaches from the Amateur Athletic Association of Barbados as well as our online community who have been invited to attend remotely via live webcast by clicking HERE.
