ANSA McAL strengthens operations with new Sr Appointments across 3 subsidiaries

As ANSA McAL (Barbados) Ltd. prepares for future growth, it has strengthened its operations with the appointment of 13 Barbadians to senior positions across three of its subsidiaries.

The majority of the 13 new appointments have been made within Bryden Stokes Ltd., the new entity formed from the merger of ANSA McAL’s three distribution entities – Brydens Distribution, Stokes and Bynoe and A&R Tempro (1986) Ltd. The other new appointments were made within Trimart Inc. and Consolidated Finance Co. Limited.

Over the last few years, ANSA McAL Ltd. has invested over $140 million in the local economy. The recent acquisition of Trimart Supermarkets, which saved 250 jobs, and more recently the purchase of Standard, with a staff of around 70 employees, illustrates the Group’s commitment to Barbados.

In announcing the appointments, President and CEO of ANSA McAL (Barbados) Ltd., Nicholas Mouttet, said all the new appointments were made from among existing employees with proven track records. “These appointments demonstrate ANSA McAL’s policy of staff development and providing the best opportunities for advancement within the company.”

With regard to the impact the appointments would have on the company’s operations, Mr. Mouttet added: “We are preparing for growth and with these 13 new appointments we have put in place the best team to meet our strategic vision in the years ahead. We’re confident that even in the context of a challenging economic climate that our strengthened management team will help the Group achieve its goals.”

The eight new appointments for Bryden Stokes Ltd. are key to moving the new company forward. New Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Andrew Lewis, has extensive experience in the distribution industry with expertise in trade, marketing and strategic leadership. He has been with the Group for over 25 years, serving as CEO of Brydens Distribution for the last eight years.

Mr. Lewis said, “I am proud to have inherited two iconic names in Barbadian business and excited to lead a talented group of employees in the continual development of a great house of world-class brands. I look forward to this new challenge and to better positioning ourselves to serve our customers in these unique times.”

The other new appointments at Bryden Stokes Ltd. are: Deborah Hamilton, Human Resource Manager; Ryan Ward, Chief Financial Officer; Gillian Leach, Logistics Director; Trevor Manning, Manager – Food and Consumer Division; Michael Marshall, Manager – Pharmaceuticals; Ricky Nurse, Manager – Wine, Spirits, Brewery and Tobacco; and Anthony (Tony) Edghill, Manager – Hardware Division.

At Trimart Inc., Geoffrey Evelyn has been appointed Chief Executive Officer while Richard Fingall is the new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Evelyn brings 28 years of experience in the food industry and distribution business with the last 6 years spent as Chief Executive Officer of Stokes & Bynoe and Mr. Fingall, a Chartered Accountant, has over 25 years’ experience in both the manufacturing and distribution sectors.

The appointments at Consolidated Finance Co. Ltd. are: Frances Parravicino, Vice-president, Credit; Lydia McCollin, Vice-president, Finance & Administration; and Harriet Garcia, Human Resources Manager. Originally joining Consolidated Finance in 1995, Mrs. Parravicino has over 35 years of banking experience in Barbados. Ms. McCollin joined ANSA McAL in 2006 as Group Chief Financial Officer and brings a wealth of knowledge to her new position at Consolidated Finance. Ms. Garcia has spent 33 years working with the Brydens Group, 20 of them in the field of Human Resources.
