POLICE OF BARBADOS DISMANTLE BURGLARY AND ROBBERY RING, SEIZE MORE GANJA AND CLOSING IN ON CHEFETTE WILDEY ROBBERY

The Royal Barbados Police Force has dismantled a ring which perpetrated burglaries.

Nicolas Narad Eastmond 25 years of Kingsland, Terrace, Christ Church, was charged for the offence of robbery jointly with Sherland Mascoll*

Sylvester Augustus Desrivieres 35 years of Redman Village, St. Thomas jointly with Mascoll* for 5 burglary offences and one robbery offence.

Sylvester Augustus Desrivieres has also received a separate charge of burglary and one of criminal damage.

Eastmond appeared the District B Court today and was remanded until June 26, 2012; Desrivieres was remanded until July 3, 2012 - *(Mascoll is currently on remand from last week)

DRUG ARRESTS

Kenneth Hunte 52 years of Peat Bay Road, Merricks, St. Philip was arrested and charged after a warrant was executed at his residence and 20 cannabis plants were found growing. He was charged with following offences:

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Cultivation, and
4. Trafficking.

2. Lucie Ena Marie Ranglin, a Canadian visitor was arrested on Monday June 4, 2012 whilst at the GAIA for drug offences. She arrived from Union Island in transit to Canada. She was interviewed by Police and referred to Customs. Two taped packages of cocaine were discovered in a false bottom of her luggage. Weight 1 ½ lbs.

She received the following charges:

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Importation, and
4. Trafficking.

Ranglin appeared at the District B Court and was remanded until June 19, 2012.

Hyacinth Estaphane (male), 52 years, a St. Lucian national, arrived by air from St. Lucia on Monday June 4, 2012, and was referred by the Police to Customs. A personal search was done and 4 packages of cannabis weighing 5 lbs were found strapped to his thighs. He received the following charged:

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Importation, and
4. Trafficking.

Estaphane appeared at the District ‘B’ Court and was sentenced ot the following

1. Possession – Convicted , Reprimanded and Discharged
2. Possession with intent to supply – 18 months in prison
3. Importation, – 2 years in prison
4. Trafficking – 2 years in prison. (All to run concurrent)

CANNABIS PLANTS SEIZURE

On Monday 4 June 2012, the Drug Squad continued their eradication operation and seized 28 growing cannabis plants at Sayers Court, Christ Church. The force’s eradication programme has seen the seizure of just over 10,000 plants for the year 2012.

BREAKTHROUGH IN ARMED ROBBERY AT CHEFETTE WILDEY 

Detectives are currently questioning 4 suspects who are in custody in connection with an aggravated burglary which occurred at Chefette Restaurant, Wildey, St. Michael outlet about 10:20 PM on 03/05/2012. It was reported that three masked men two armed with knives and one armed with a gun entered that restaurant and stole and undisclosed sum of money.

  1. I never see a follow-up on these drug arrests. Were these people released or sentenced to jail time.
