BARBADOS POLICE SUMMONED WHEN CRATE OF ORANGES HELD MARIJUANA PACKETS INSTEAD, COW THIEVES ON BAIL

1. COW THIEVES FACE CHARGES

27 years of Valley Land, St. George and , 23 years of Warrens Road, Belleplaine, St. Andrew, who were both charged with Theft, appeared at the District A Magistrate Court on Saturday 17 June 2012, and they were both separately granted bail in the sum of $3000.00 with one surety appear at the District D/Belleplaine Court on 19 June 2012.

2. DRUG SEIZURE

Members of the Drug Squad between June 15 and June 16, 2012 seized 41 compressed packages of cannabis weighing 100.83 kgs and investigations are continuing into the origin and finds.

{INTERNET STOCK IMAGE} On June 14, 2012, a shipment of boxes of oranges from Jamaica was received by a distribution company. After being processed, several boxes of the consignment were distributed to a number of Supermarkets. At one of the supermarkets, a staff member discovered a package of cannabis when unpacking one of the boxes that was delivered there and the police was summoned.

Further investigations by the Police with the cooperation of other supermarkets discovered other packages of cannabis in boxes of oranges in their possession. Some of the packages of cannabis were also discovered at the distribution company where the remaining consignment of oranges was held.
