Monday 18th June – public holiday on Montserrat

Monday 18 June 2012 has been declared a public holiday to commemorate the Queen’s Official Birthday celebrations.

According to the Office of the Deputy Governor, “as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, Her Majesty the Queen’s Official Birthday Parade will be celebrated on Saturday 16 June, 2012 at Salem Park at 8 o’clock in the morning.

“In line with this, Monday June 18, 2012 has therefore been declared a public holiday on Montserrat in lieu of Saturday June 16, 2012.”

Several activities are being planned to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s 60th year on the throne. These include a beacon lighting ceremony on June 4, a medal ceremony on June 7, and a charity fundraising concert on June 8 at Government House.
