Jubilee Weekend, Sunday 3rd June, the Blossomfield Cricket Club in Solihull, West Midlands, will be awash with Bajan heritage for the spectacular, “A Lil Bit of Bim” cultural day.

Starting off with a veterans Ten-10 cricket match and then an extra special Barbados XI vs England XI Twenty-20 cricket match and a guest appearance from legendary cricketer the Right Excellent Sir Garfield Sobers, Barbadians and friends will also be treated to a live performance from fêted singer Kirk Brown who has flown in from Barbados for this event. There will also be entertainment from the likes of Jon Chase, Louise “Ms Desire” Jackman, DeeVine, Soca Empress and the celebrated Universal Connection Soca dancers who will bring their rhythmic sounds to the ears of friends and families and bring the day to an end.

No Bajan day would be complete without some Banks beer, macaroni pie, Cou- Cou and obligatory chicken, flying fish, rice and peas and there will of course be plenty of traditional Bajan food stalls as well as cultural presentations for those who want to find out more. There will be a dedicated kids zone to keep the little ones entertained.

Petra Roach, vice president of marketing for Barbados Tourism Authority UK, one of the main sponsors of the “A Lil Bit of Bim” cultural day, commented, “We are so proud to be one of the sponsors of this event as it is truly Bajan day created by Bajans, for Bajans. This year the Barbados Tourism Authority is celebrating our year of history and heritage and we’ve had so much interest in it we want to spread the word even further. We hope that people from all over the UK will join us for a classic celebration of everything that makes our culture and heritage the most impressive of all the Caribbean islands.”
