FINALIST OF CaribbeanTales 2012’s Script2Screen CONTEST IS BRIDGETOWN FILM ACADEMY GRADUAND #caribbeantales #uwi #screenwriting #screenplay

When Elena Shepherd took the Bridgetown Film Academy’s scriptwriting course she had no idea it would lead to her placing as a finalist in the CaribbeanTales’ Script2Screen’s competition, the victory has boosted her confidence to seek more in the world of writing and even alter her career decisions.

Her story “When John Met Chloe” made second place in the writing challenge, it looked at how unusual circumstances led a young man to become homeless and was a warning against domestic violence of any kind.

It was only summer last year when Elena was looking to do something different so she persuaded her mother to enlist her in the BFA’s eight-week seminar in honing one’s skills in preparing scripts for TV and cinema. You can visit to learn more or email if you want to reserve a place for the next class.

The UWI student was pursuing Linguistics and Psychology, yet come September she plans to switch to Creative Writing and Journalism because of her success.

Once Elena graduates from the Cave Hill Campus she wants to be in the Media both in a reporting capacity and yet also look at crafting stories for movies and television.

A dramatisation of Elena’s script will unfold at the Island Inn hotel this Friday evening at 7:00 pm along with the other finalists tales, and there are still other events you can savour with CaribbeanTales 2012 go to for the full menu.
