Tradewinds 2012 is the 28th Anniversary of a regional training drive to encompass multiple aspects of ensuring the security and stability of the Caribbean, last year Antigua was the host territory. Barbados is the lead island this year, while the drill itself runs from 15th to 24th June, and almost 400 personnel from Canada, Dominican Republic, the United States as well as members of CARICOM (Caribbean Community) will be in Barbados for the initiative.

This edited version of the launch and debriefing took place at the Barbados Defence Force’s Hodgson Hall, St Ann’s Fort, Hastings, Christ Church.
The exercise this year will see the use and implementation of Social Media as a means for Officers to liaise with Citizens in the event of Situation where cooperation from both sides is needed quickly, be it disaster or apprehension of criminals.
