#Barbadian #composer spreads his wings at #MIDEM: #Jazz #musician inks co-publishing deal with #German publisher
After a successful mission to MIDEM earlier this year, local jazz saxophonist and composer Andre Woodvine is pleased to announce the signing of a co-publishing deal with German publisher, “The Audio Factory.”
The Audio Factory was founded in 1987 as a music production company for media. The company located in Hamburg has grown to a staff of 25 whose services include actively pitching music for use in television and movies. Andre’s music was recently featured in The Audio factory’s weekly newsletter which can be found at www.audiofactory.de
MIDEM is the acronym for Marché International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale which is held annually in and around the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France. The event, which is billed as the world’s largest trade fair for the music industry, has been held since 1967. Several thousand musicians, producers, managers, and journalists from around the globe regularly attend MIDEM, which is currently held at the end of January.
Woodvine was able to make his first trip to MIDEM through the crucial financial and logistical support of Invest Barbados.
Andre comments; “Invest Barbados made this trip possible and helped me to successfully prepare for the MIDEM experience, without their support I could not have achieved my goals.” “When attending MIDEM,” says Woodvine, “Persistence and a positive attitude are essential. After sending out over two hundred invitations to various music labels and publishers, I was able to meet with seven, and ultimately established a business relationship with The Audio Factory.”
Along with meeting publishers and music label executives, Woodvine also performed with internationally renowned Jazz pianist Mario Canonge for the exclusive Invest Barbados MIDEM reception. After his arrival at MIDEM, Woodvine was also invited to join Martinique Pianist Ronald Tulle in a vibrant Guadeloupe/Martinique showcase performance which took place at the unusually named Hotel 3.14.
Andre attended many of MIDEM’s high quality music business lectures and workshops including a series of informative presentations by his alma mater Berklee College of Music.
