{FILE IMAGE VIA INTERNET} Volunteers can donate blood at the National Blood Collecting Centre located at Ladymeade Gardens between 8 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on weekdays or 8 a.m. and 12 noon on Saturdays.

The Blood Bank monitors blood supplies to ensure donations are keeping pace with the hospital’s need for blood products in order to meet ongoing and emergency patient care. Blood is used for the treatment of cancer patients, people with blood disorders, premature babies, transplant recipients and trauma victims. Each whole blood donation can help save up to three lives.

Giving blood is a simple process that takes about an hour from start to finish.

  • The donor comes, registers and is given some required reading material.
  • The next step is the health history where you will be interviewed by the staff to determine if you can donate on that day.
  • The actual donation itself only takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

Donate Blood NOW! Chances are, someone is counting on you right now for their very life.
