Red advertising&marketing Ltd. started their 10th Anniversary Celebrations with a bang when they were crowned the Most Creative Agency in the Caribbean at the 2012 American Advertising Federation’s ADDY Awards.
Red flew the Barbadian flag proudly beating the best of the Caribbean advertising industry, including over 30 entrants from Jamaica, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Lucia, USVI and of course, Barbados.
They were also awarded the coveted “Best of Show for Overall Excellence” for their body of work on Virgin Atlantic and “Best of Show Print” for their Banks Amber Ale campaign.
In all, this was the best ever performance by Red winning the most gold awards with 27 as well as most awards in total with 45.
It also represented a local milestone with Red remaining as the most creatively awarded agency in Barbados for the 9th straight year.
Jevan Jutagir, Managing Director of Red, commented on the awards, “What a way to kick off our 10th Anniversary Celebrations! This show was one where the cream of Caribbean agencies entered and we did Barbados proud! To win Best of Show for Overall Excellence, Best of Show Print, most gold awards and most awards total is the Grand Slam of advertising!”
Big winners among Red’s clients were Virgin Atlantic with 11 awards including the coveted Best of Show Overall and 8 gold awards, recently acquired client Banks Breweries with 19 awards including Best of Show Print and 12 gold awards, along with Mount Gay Distilleries with 6 awards, five of which were gold. In all Red won awards on work for 9 separate clients including Banks Breweries, Virgin Atlantic, Mount Gay Distilleries, Sol, Harris Paints, Carter’s, Cin Cin Restaurant, Red Advertising and TeleBarbados.
Mr. Jutagir continued to elaborate on the team effort behind these awards,
“It is testament to the strength of the creative product at Red that we have recently made a number of changes to our creative team, giving more emphasis on youthfulness in order to keep our product fresh. Our younger talent amply repaid our faith, each winning many gold awards. Our recently promoted Co-Creative Director Tracey Garcia also wowed the judges winning our intra-agency ADDY competition with 21 awards! In fact, each and every one of our Graphic Designers and Copywriters won awards in the 2012 ADDY show, displaying a depth of talent that is Red’s true competitive edge. This edge is what our clients value, ensuring that their advertising cuts through the clutter, even more important in a depressed economy where getting a bigger slice of a diminishing pie is the name of the game! The fundamental truth is the more creative the work the greater the sell because it is noticed more. If your work doesn’t get noticed you can’t sell. If your company or brand is having this problem then maybe it is time to talk to Red!”
Ms. Garcia, Co-Creative Director commented on the judging,
“To be judged by Stephen Rogers, The US National ADDY Committee Chairman and veteran judge of over 150 ADDY shows, was a true privilege for all of us in the Caribbean Advertising Federation!
The fact that the judges awarded Red Best of Show Overall for our Body of Work on Virgin Atlantic was truly magical, especially when they praised the “Concepts, copy, art direction and executions” as being “Excellent and consistent”! Given that three designers and two copywriters worked on the Virgin work this illustrates Jevan’s point about the depth and consistency of Red’s talent pool. I’d like to thank my creative teams for their hard work this past year. I am delighted that they have been so well rewarded with ADDY success!”
The ADDY awards is the creative award show of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) of which the Caribbean Advertising Federation (CAF) is a member. The awards are 3 tiered with local shows and awards which feed into regional shows (the CAF is part of the 4th District region which includes Florida, The Caribbean and Puerto Rico) which in turn feed into a National show.
