Barbados will yet again take a crack at the gold standard in the International Eggs Commission competition later this year in the United Kingdom…

And the newest edition of the Eggonomics television programme, “Street Heat” will be carrying the Barbados flag with the finalist chosen from a mixture of points from Chef John Hazzard and texting support from the public.

Producer Darin Holder said the “Street Heat” edition will comprise eleven contestants, one from each parish cooking their favourite chicken and egg dish.

Chef John Hazzard, will assist each contestant and then judge them based on originality, plating and taste, after which the public will be invited to text-in to support the person of their choice. At the end of the 11 weeks, the persons with the most points and votes will face off in the final for a grand prize of $5,000.000 and the crown of Interparish Eggonomics “Street Heat” Champion’, he said.

Lead sponsor of Star Chick, Wendell Clarke praised the work of the programme and the impact it has had on the development of the chicken and egg industries and said that despite spending a mere $200,000 over two years, Barbados was able to achieve gold and better consumption figure than countries which have been spending millions.

The Eggonomics TV show copped the gold award last year in Washington beating out countries like the Unites States, England and Canada in the process.

Contestants who were on hand at the launch are eagerly looking forward to the competition and some have already signalled their intention to revise their offering for greater impact and competition.

The final will be filmed live on location at The Village Square at Coverley, where representatives of each parish and their supporters will be on hand.

This is the third season in the Eggonomics series is straight on the heels of the successful Eggonomics Celebrity which saw the Honourable Mia Mottley and Calypsonian Red Plastic Bag sharing the prize for their respective charities.
