Theft & Drugs – Royal Barbados Police Force busy in Season of Love: Trio sentenced & close to 300 lbs of Cannabis seized

An operation was conducted on the morning of Wednesday 15th February 2012 by the Police Drug Squad, assisted by the Barbados Coast Guard at Enterprise, Christ Church, where 246.4 lbs of cannabis concealed in 5 plastic containers and a fishing boat were seized. One Barbadian national was taken into custody.

Investigations are continuing…

In the meantime – the following persons were arrested and jointly charged for 24 counts of theft which occurred across the island between July 2011 and February 2012. Property recovered included generators, welding plants, power washers, hedge trimmers, tools, weed trimmers, and electric drills.

They are:
1. Michael Fernando Bullen, 38 years of King Street, St. Michael;
2. Lee Sebastian Medford, 31 years of Phillips Drive, Pine, St. Michael; and
3. Mervin Antonio Niles, 24 years, of Butlers Avenue, Gall Hill, Christ Church.

{FILE IMAGE} Inspector Welch revealed;- "The accused appeared at the Oistins Magistrate Court on Friday 17 February 2012, and pleaded guilty to 23 of the 24 charges. Medford and Bullen were sentenced to a total of 4 ½ years in prison, while Niles was sentenced to 24 months in prison."

The remaining case has been referred to the Holetown Magistrate Court, for Wednesday 22nd February 2012.
