Briton of Bajan descent spearheads a highly successful acting workshop for the Barbados Film & Video Association

The Barbados Film & Video Association (BFVA) recently concluded its first training event for 2012, a two-day training workshop on ‘Acting for film & video’.

Conducted by British/ Barbadian celebrity actor/director Paul Medford, the workshop was attended by a group of budding and experienced local actors, including Andrew Pilgrim of ‘Pilly Out Front’ fame.

The workshop included practical sessions, which were recorded, allowing participants to receive immediate feedback on their performances and to learn how every nuance is interpreted by the camera.

The comments were extremely favourable and Medford was full of praise for the way the group responded to the training.

  • David Green: This workshop turned out to be a wonderful experience for everyone. We even shot a soap opera in under 2 hours.
  • Melanie Singer Cox: It certainly shows what can be done in a short space of time with limited resources. Informative and entertaining. I enjoyed it.
  • Fatima Patel: Efficient use of time; we did quite a lot in two evenings. The filming of the short scenes for us to critique was very effective. Would be happy to do more of these; kudos to Paul and the BFVA for putting this on.

Persons desirous of joining the association may contact membership chairperson Selwyne Browne at: further information.
