UN’s Website on the Caribbean Human Development Report 2012 now online
Violent crime is indeed a major challenge to human development in the Caribbean…
{FILE IMAGE} A hard copy of the Report will be released in Port of Spain on 8 February 2012 during a ceremony to be attended by a number of prime ministers of the region and UNDP senior officials.
Produced after a thorough consultation and based on a telltale survey responded by more than 11,000 citizens from seven countries, the Caribbean Human Development Report 2012 Report reviews the current state of crime in the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean, as well as the current policies and programmes to address crime. The Report offers a set of recommendations to reduce and prevent violent crime while advancing human development.
A number of materials on the preparation of the Report are already available on the website http://hdr-caribbean.regionalcentrelac-undp.org/ , including a promotional 7-minute video, information on the independent team of experts that drafted the report, the poster competition for its cover, the consultation of nearly 500 experts, practitioners and leaders and a large scale survey of more than 11,000 people that preceded this report.
