The Barbados Entrepreneurship Foundation (BEF) FREE Entrepreneurs’ Seminar: “Legal Fundamentals of Setting Up A Business – Your Practical Guide”
Given its over arching goal to make Barbados “The #1 entrepreneurial hub in the world by 2020” the Barbados Entrepreneurship Foundation (BEF) has embarked on an aggressive campaign to bring this to fruition.
Formally incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2010, the BEF has hosted various convocations to this end, the most recent being the highly successful Barbados National Entrepreneurial Summit 2011 hosted November 17th and 18th at the Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, featuring Sir Kyffin Simpson, Chairman of The Simpson Group, Interamericana Trading Corporation and the SOL Group of Companies and Neville Isdell, former CEO and chairman of The Coca Cola Company, among others.
Although the Summit catered to entrepreneurs at all stages of their development, this first free seminar of the business facilitation pillar will seek to target the needs of young budding entrepreneurs at the start up stage and will be delivered on February 18th 2012 from 8:30am to 11:30am at the Bar Association Headquarters under the canopy: “Legal Fundamentals of Setting Up A Business – Your Practical Guide“.
With highly qualified presenters volunteering from various corners of the legal fraternity the seminar promises to offer critical information on a variety of ‘start-up’ concerns, including:
- What vehicle suits you best and why;
- How to structure the financing and ownership of your business;
- The critical importance of sound corporate governance; and
- How to harness the law in your best interest including reducing arrangements into writing, observing corporate formalities and ongoing corporate administration.
In the few days of promotion, particularly on popular social media networks such as the Facebook, Twitter and Blackberry Messenger the marketing team has noted significant interest particularly from persons in the 18 to 30 year old age group, a clear indication of the emerging entrepreneurial culture the BEF seeks to nurture.
Registration for this exciting seminar officially opened on Tuesday 10th January. However due to the overwhelming response received the seminar has already reached capacity. The BEF therefore wishes to express its gratitude for the interest shown in this seminar and encourages all interested persons to visit their website via http://bit.ly/freelegalseminar to complete the displayed fields indicating whether he or she wishes to be notified should this seminar be repeated or should similar ones be presented in the future.
