{UPDATED} Royal Barbados Police Force haul close to 500 lbs. of marijuana, caught & laid charges on 1 Bajan from botched smuggling

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged Asquith King, 28 years of Bournes Land, St. Christopher, Christ Church in relation to the seizure of 499.4 lbs of Cannabis, which occurred on Tuesday 10th January, 2011, at the Crane Beach, St. Philip.

He has received the following charges:

1. Possession
2. Trafficking
3. Possession with intent to supply, and
4. Importation

This is in connection to an operation led by the Drug Squad and assisted by the Barbados Coast Guard and an element of the Regional Security System was conducted at Crane Beach, St. Philip on Tuesday 10th January 2012, around 2.30pm, when 499.4 lbs of cannabis was seized along with one speed boat.

During the operation, it was reported that the boat ran aground and two men ran away, one a Barbadian, was caught and the accused is expected to appear at the District C Magistrate Court today January 12, 2012. The contraband was contained in three polyphene bags and six taped packages.
