His entrepreneurial passion to create positive change in the world led him to study film and acting, where he aimed to drive social change through positive media & communications projects.
After hosting adventure-sport TV shows throughout Canada, Australia and New Zealand, he began speaking to audiences to share his experiences, encouraging people to shift their paradigm and fuel support for social change. He then traveled Southeast Asia for 12 months and began consulting as a social-entrepreneur in Hong Kong, where he led a successful conservation project as the Events Director for Ecovision Asia.
In 2010, Tyler’s consulting services led him to work with Virgin Unite, the non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group; founded by Richard Branson. As Head of Virgin Unite Entrepreneurs, Tyler spent 16 months working with teams from New York, South Africa and the UK to help take their social-entrepreneurs community program to the next level. This involved managing key relationships and organizing events led by Richard Branson for groups of business leaders, entrepreneurs and philanthropists from around the world.
Programs took place in Los Angeles, New Delhi, The Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship in Jamaica and South Africa, as well as Richard Branson’s private island in the British Virgin Islands. The focus targeted discussion of global issues, partnerships and driving entrepreneurial change on the front lines. Tyler helped galvanize this program into a community that takes an entrepreneurial approach to solving social issues, and stands by Virgin Unite’s slogan: “refuse to accept the unacceptable”.
