President of the Caribbean Development Bank, Dr. Warren Smith, will hold his first major news conference for 2012 next week.

{FILE IMAGE} The news conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on January 31. It will be streamed live via the Internet, and will be accessible for interested parties at www.livestream.com/cdbpress.

Traditionally, the CDB President hosts a news conference at the beginning of each year, to report on CDB’s performance the previous year. In addition, the President discusses the performance of the Bank’s borrowing member countries, which are all located in the Caribbean, as well as the short to medium-term prospects for these economies.

Dr. Smith will also brief the journalists on work which CDB has been undertaking in key areas including citizen security, debt, economic growth, the financial sector, and climate change. Dr. Smith assumed office in May last year.

On Tuesday, January 31, 2012, senior journalists and editors from Antigua and Barbuda, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia plus Trinidad & Tobago will join their Barbados-based counterparts at the Bank’s Headquarters in Barbados for the meeting with the CDB President.
