BARBADIAN REAL ESTATE VALUER EARNS RICS DESIGNATION
Real estate valuer at Terra Caribbean Genevieve Seaman recently earned the RICS (The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Chartered Valuation Surveyor designation. Attaining this designation is the recognised mark of property professionalism.
RICS provides the world’s leading professional qualification in land, property, construction and the associated environmental issues. The Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) comprises a rigorous period of structured training and requires a written submission and an extensive one-hour interview.
Genevieve lauded the programme noting that it afforded her the opportunity to employ valuation techniques currently used throughout the industry. “The experience greatly expanded my knowledge as it relates to real estate valuation,” she stated.
RICS membership demonstrates adherence to high standards of professionalism, competence and local and international market knowledge. The network extends to 140 countries with 100,000 qualified members.
Genevieve is the second real estate professional at Terra Caribbean to earn the MRICS (Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) designation, the first is held by Managing Director of the firm Andrew Mallalieu.
In commenting on her achievement she praised the educational policy at Terra Caribbean. “What’s great about Terra Caribbean is that the company encourages continued development of all employees, funding 50% of all educational costs,” she noted.
Knowledge is the foundation of the Terra Caribbean brand; in addition to paying 50% of all education costs of all employees, each year the company rewards one outstanding staff member with a full (100% paid) scholarship to fund their educational pursuits.
“We are very proud of Genevieve,” said Andrew, “She has worked extremely hard and this designation is evidence of her commitment to excellence in her field. With her achievement the Terra Caribbean valuation team now includes four team members with internationally recognised credentials offering the broadest range of skills and depth of experience on the island.”
Genevieve joined the Terra Caribbean team in 2007. She holds a First Class Honours Degree in Estate Management and has experience in a range of residential and commercial valuation assignments.
