Louis Vuitton goes Bajan, no mention on Website – LV condom gives term of “Frenchie” new significance
Known for special luggage to carry pets abroad and special moccasins for driving, leather couture Louis Vuitton debuts at the Limegrove Mall in Holetown. Two receptions were held – one in the afternoon for Media Personalities and a separate one that same evening for business clientele like Vic Fernandes: alias the Market Vendor from VOB, the Chief Justice of Barbados and key management from Hilton Barbados among others deemed as bigwigs, etc.
However, as Bajans love to tell you – the proof of the pudding is in the eating – and this outlet, despite its virtual absence on the Internet, can be found at Holetown, St James… On the West Coast, which – as many Bajans will tell you, is a hotbed of luxury shopping and overseas residential investment set right in the heart of where Barbados was “discovered” (abandoned by Arawaks a few generations beforehand) by British royalists almost 400 years ago…
Louis Vuitton will have no trouble fitting in Holetown, which reminds me, there is now an early Valentine’s gift which was intended to be in honour of World AIDS day using the iconic logo of the leather designer – perhaps some bondage gear next?
“Georgia Republic architect Irakli Kiziria has designed a Louis Vuitton condom, enveloped in the label’s notorious brown packaging and adorned with what looks like raised lettering (for enhanced pleasure, we can only assume). The luxury rubbers are priced at $68 each, according to the “official” website.
To put the price in perspective, $68 could buy you about five 36-packs of regular condoms.”
But before you head to your nearest Louis Vuitton retailer, you should know the condoms aren’t available in stores. (Bummer, right?)”
“In fact, Kiziria has no affiliation with the Louis Vuitton company and drafted the condoms in collaboration with Design Provocation as a design-project, according to the website.”
